Hey everyone. Ill try to explain the best i can. Installed most of my new 5" system from MKO Diesel. Everything was pretty easy and smooth. I have installed successfully the downpipe and all 3 straight pipes (Muffler delete being the last pip installed). Now, For the LIFE of me. I cannot figure out how the 2 tail pipe pieces go on. The instructions say "You MAY have to move the spare tire temperarly" Does this mean you HAVE to move it? Even if i did pull it down and fit the system (i still dont see how it would fit) I called the guy from MKO and yes im putting them in the right order.
No Cutting reqd' I have a long bed. PLEASE dont tell me i gotta get rid of the spare. Im goin crazy guys - Thanks a ton
i have a 4 inch so i dont know exactly, but i know mine was very tight in places. maybe you have to drop the spare to install it right, then put the spare back?? im not sure though, just throwing out ideas because i know how you feel. someone will chime in real soon with a 5 inch for sure. good luck.
Ya thats what im thinking. But the angles dont match up. Its almost like they sent me the wrong pipe. MKO confirmed that they did send the correct pipes. It fits, there is just some trick to it.
I'm doing a 4" dual system right now and having similar issues. I finally got all the pipe in place, now I can't figure out how/where the clamps for the two tail pipes are supposed to go. Getting the DP in was the hardest part of the whole thing almost- had to have wifey help me so I could get that bugger clamped on!
on my truck with the 5" exhaust i had to loosen the spare and push it way to the driver side and to the back bumper as far as the bracket would let me..it left me about an inch for the spare...you can barly see the tire in this pic..
Wow Ron, Thats a huge help. I didnt know there was room to move and remount the spare tire a bit.
Ready for this next problem? The idiot who sold me the truck lost the entire jack system. Including the tool used to drop the spare tire. Any ideas guys? I can see in there but it looks like a specialized tool.
On your 02 it is it takes a key kinda like the ones for wheel lug nut locks...
The dealer is the only place to get it as they will have to use your vin.

Great, get to be screwed by the dealer. Actually, i think i have the key in the glove box. Just not the extesion - Any ideas?
Joe - A real big screwdriver or a piece of pipe (probably 3/8" guessing here,) with the end mashed by a hammer might work, if youre looking for a way to get it down w/o going to the dealer. You can turn it with a pipe wrench or a pair of vice - grips.
Joe, if the jack extension pieces are not present just above the radiator, find a friend nearby with a 250/350 and borrow it or go to the boneyard and get the set.. If you don't lock that key to the extension it will fall off and then you are in suckville with it in that tube. Just be glad the key is there. I had to move my spare over and back too. Even that does not leave much room for the 5" so it may have to move.
I bought my truck used and didn't have the key for the spare either. went to the dealer to get one and they told me to just take the thing out of the end of the tube. It didn't come out very easily but it did come out, now I can just use the extension and no worries about finding the key.
