I am running a Banks Monster cat back exhaust as well as other mods. I recently emailed Banks asking if they made a cat delete pipe that would work w/ their Monster system. A Banks rep called me about 60 minutes later (IMPRESSIVE customer service) and said Banks did not make a cat delete pipe. With that in mind, the rep also said that I would see no/little benefit in doing the cat delete. I don't expect wild HP or milage gains but I was thinking I might help EGT's. Planning on keeping the Banks Monster muffler just for quiet sake.
Does anyone have any experience with just deleting the cat and maintaing a 4 or 5" aftermarket muffler system?

I'm running the full Banks Monster Exhaust (Banks downpipe, muffler, pipes, etc), without the cat. I hadn't originally intended to leave the cat off, but it turned out to be a lot easier to go back without it (just used a short straight piece in place of it).
I haven't noticed any real performance gains, EGT reductions, etc. I do notice that my turbo whistles a lot louder! However, I think a lot of that is because the new downpipe is not insulated like the stock one. But some of the louder turbo whistle does also comes from not having the cat on. I do use the Bank Monster muffler.
They don't sniff diesels down here (yet), so the old, giant cat went in the dumpster. If cats are ever required someday, I'll buy a new performance cat.

Be careful, they do in Plano and I'm sure it's coming down there. Might take it a few yrs. but it's coming.
For me it was about sound mainly. I think that it does reduce egts, but I think it's not something your going to see a drastic improvement on. I don't think the cat's now are quite as restrictive as they used to be, that is why I didn't see a drastic reduction in egt's and why it didn't seem like the turbo spoiled significantly sooner then before.

Shoulda sold that thing. A decent used cat brings $200...
Are you guys kidding? I put my MBRP system on and left the cat in. A week later, I took the cat out and it made a huge difference. Difference in Sound, EGT's, and Turbo Spool. It isn't going back on.

Where would a good place to list one for sale be. Craigslist? Still have mine was going to toss it but not after reading that, could get a tank of fuel for it (now that is just sad).
I did not run my MBRP system at all with the cat in, so do not know how big a difference it is making. I looked through the cat when I took it off and would think it is restrictins a ton, as looking through the 3.5" hole I only saw about a quarter size light at the other end.

I have the 4" Banks turbo back system and I just ordered the Banks extension pipe that is for the longbed crewcabs and trimmed it to fit in place of the cat, it works perfect!!!
Cats have rare earth metals in them that are worth some big bucks, depending on of course, the current market price. One cat might only be worth $20 or so. It is starting to become a problem where criminals are removing them from under cars at night in order to get drug money! Just goes to show you, it takes all kinds.
My truck has the stock exhaust however, I drilled the center out of the cat. The turbo has a louder whistle now. That's good enough for me. It's got to flow better.
I ran the banks turbo back with the cat on there and eventually removed it. results are more turbo whisle and possibly quicker spoolup. as far as EGT's, no gauges. sorry!
The CAT is very restrictive. And can get clogged with soot especially if you live in a severe cold climate or run a tuner that makes your truck smoke alot.

I agree!!! I put in the MBRP cat delete pipe on my stock exhaust system before I bought the MBRP T-back and it made a noticeable difference, especially reducing turbo lag. After I put the MBRP T-back system on with the cat delete pipe in, it made a huge difference. Turbo spools up faster, lower EGTs and no turbo lag. I have a lot of people ask me how I get my X to sound like it does. Deleting the cat is the best mod you can do for the 6.0, unfortunately, not all of us can delete the cat and I would definitely not throw the cat away. With the MBRP system it is very easy to reinstall.
