Yes, it's just drain and fill. You have an open diff so no need to add anything.
Place some sort of a catch container under the diff
Unbolt cover
Swear when the fluid misses the container and makes a mess
Clean off mating surfaces
Apply a new bead of your favorite "gasket-in-a-tube" product
Put cover back on
Fill diff through filler hole until fluid runs out.
I used 75w140 Royal purple syn, I changed mine 2 months ago. If your gonna go with the royal purple route, they sell it at advanced auto. Well worth the money!! BTW when u unscrew the screw that allows you to fill ur rear end, fill it up until oil comes out. Now you kno its full.
Also don't forget to check the vent line on the rear diff. The tube it located a little to the left (driver's side) of the diff on the axel tube. Follow the vent line up towards the bed. At the end of the line a small platic V that will sometimes get plugged with mud.
I changed my rear diff cover to MAG HYTEC for better cooling and higher capacity.
I changed my front diff cover to Purple Cranium because it's the toughest one out there.
I run valvoline synthetic 75-140 weight in both axles to limit the spare oil I have to carry on trail

OverEngineer: How do you like the MagHytec diff. cover??? I'm thinking of getting one for my 350PSD.
Why didn't you get the MagHytec front diff too??? I haven't heard of the Purple Cranium, but may check it out. Wouldn't the MagHytec be just as good, but if not i'm sure it would at least be better than the stock cover...
Looking at his pics I would imagine that his diffs especially the front sees rocks pretty often. On his rig I personally would have reinforced steel covers on both ends.
I love both covers for different reasons. The rear dissapates more heat and holds more oil - I like this because the rear gears are working all the time - A run to Moab takes about 20 hours. The Rio Grand is about a 25 hour drive.
The front will take a bang and gave me a spot to weld on my hydraulic steering bracket.
I try to protect the diffs as best I can. If this were a trails only truck I would steel fore & aft. So far.... you know...
