If you blew your headgaskets and the tech didnt check the flatness of the heads and just put them back on, even arp studded heads will leak if the heads are warped

UGA33 is right on the money(I know from experiance). Despite having the studs if they didn't either machine the heads or replace and check for flatness on the new heads then you'll still get a leak. Saving grace here is that you are able to still use those same studs so that's not another approximate 500 dollars down the drain again. It shouldn't matter if he has studs and they did the job correctly rather or not he is running a tuner, those studs do almost make it fully foolproof if the install is completely done correctly.

right, my thinking though tex is if the studs and heads were done correctly, there is still a chance the egr cooler is cracked or the egr might be needing to be blocked off from flash boiling. Ive had the problem with puking with and without heavy tows with a hot tune that I fixed with the good old frost plug welded into the exhaust trick. You would think with the way the 05 and up egr exhaust pipe is made it would force more exhaust into the egr compared to the 03-04s where a egr delete or cap would be even more needed.
You are prob right with improper head work done on the truck though.

I had forgotten about the egr as I had that blocked off long ago. That is a good angle to consider though.
