I have a 1990 full size Bronco 302ci that I am putting in an old Jeep. I have an engine and chasis diagram but do not have a breakout of the pins on the large circular firewall connector.
No I only need to know what circuits are required to power the engine and computer. I am putting the 302 in a 1980 Jeep CJ 5. I have most of it figured out, but don't want to miss something obvious. Thanks for the help. I even went through the entire library at a local ford dealer and could not find the breakout of the firewall connector.
You should be able to go by wire color only. And most of the harnesses are kept separate. In other words the computer harness is a whole separate group of wires, and the chassis wiring is another group.
Thanks, That is what we have done. The computer harness is fairly easy and pin maps are easy to find for that connector. The firewall harness is another story.
Here's a diagram of the fuel injection system. http://www.autozone.com/images/cds/g...3d800a3a4d.gif
I am trying to think what you might need that would be in the other plug. Possibly the ignition switch wires, the oil and water sending units. I am not sure where the fuel pump wiring enters the cab.
If you look at the above diagram, you can see you need a red/lightgreen wire from the ignition switch. From memory I believe the oil and water temp sending unit wires are white/red and red/white. But if you are not using the Bronco dash unit, there should be no need for these wires, just use aftermarket or the old jeep gauge wiring.
Most of the power for the system comes in through the EEC relay, which is triggered by the red/lightgreen. Other than the fuel pumps circuit, it should be ready to run. And then all the other wiring can be the jeep wiring.
What exactly are you looking for in the Bronco's firewall plug?
