found a donor

I finally found a donor truck I could afford (1050.00) to diesel my 88 Bronco! It is a 86 f250 4x4 with a 6.9 and c6 tranny. Now I can start planning the swap for this summer (summer so I can ride my bike to work while the truck is down). Soon I will be rolling black smoke and waking the nieghbors up with striaght pipes in the morning(5 a.m.).

cool beans! what kind of suspension you gonna put under the front to support the diesel engine weight? you plan on swapping the donor truck front into it so it will hold it up? just curious. can't wait to see the pics. ought to be an awsome project.

I plan on useing both front and rear along with tranny and transcase. I will cut and weld the drive shaft for the rear. I also plan on a 4" body lift that I made my self , and future 6" suspension lift (also fabbed by me) to allow more room for tires. Can't wait for warm weather so I can get started, still a little to clod for the bike espially in the mornings.

understand about the too cold for the bike. it's been warm enough here to ride mine, but rain is just as bad as cold. learned the hard way not to leave house in rain on sportbike. waiting for more room under shop roof to work on swapping steering gear boxes from donor truck i bought ('91 for $300 that runs) to my
'90. dang thing is just too mean to steer right now.
can't remember the measurements on the '78 and later broncos for the track width. is it going to be about the same as the 250 or will you have to do the fender mods to keep the tires under sheet metal? or does it matter there? occasionally we have some exhuberent officers who like to quote some law about tires having to be covered by sheet metal or the start writing equipment violation tickets.

Forget swapping the front end from your donor truck. Unless it is a D50, you're not going to gain any strength. Find a Dana 60, keep the coil suspension and build on it from there. It will be a huge improvement over the TTB system and easier to set up a straight axle supension.
