I recently purchased a 38 foot boat at 11,000 lbs w/o the trailer. I was considering upgrading to a class V hitch on my F350. When I searched for a hitch, most were noted to fit a 34" frame, with a note saying "Super Duty Cab and Chassis"
The frame on my truck looks like it is 37" outside to outside.
Question: is the frame width different on a SD cab and chassis like for a utility box builder or camper builder than a regular P/U or are they talking about an inside dimension, which would be pretty close to the 34" they are talking about.
I have a:
2000 F350 4x4
Long box, 4dr, V-10 automatic SRW.
I too have a 40ft Cigarette boat. Weighs around 15k lbs with the trailer and fuel. Unfortunatly, goosenecks and fifth wheels with these boats are rare setups. Almost all the big boats use bumper style setups. Even some of the big 47ft+ boats use bumper styles.
I believe you want to get a putnam class V XDR hitch. They make one for your truck, rated for 15k WC and 16K WD.
