I have a some vibration at highway speeds and a slight rumble, i have had the tires balanced and wheels checked and all were fine except on tire that had a lump in it. I changed it with the spair with no help. I guess my question is how could i tell if it is possibly the drive shaft? also i have replaced the u joints. Thanks for any help. the truck in question is in my signature.
hello
It might be a u-joint and it would likely be the one at the diff. Hopefully that's it .To check ,take for a short drive then craw under a feel the u-joints if it feels warm it could be the one that need replaced.
There's been a lot of posts about splined 'slip joints' on drive shafts needing to be greased.
Tires are also suspect. An obvious "lump" is one thing, however there are subtle defects that are harder to see. Look for out of round issues. Belt separation can pass right through balancing w/o being noticed.
thanks guys, i might just go see the tire dealer even though they are over a year old, also i never thought about seein if the u joint was warm thanks alot.
so got an update for ya guys, just installed a different driveshaft today and solves my rumble problem. apparently there is something wrong with the other one. nothing noticble anyway so FYI if someone else is haveing similair problems.
