i recently bought a 99 f-350 4x4 7.3psd and it started running bad...it was raining when this started loosing power...i posted this before and was told to use dielectric grease on the plug for the cps...so i went around and did all the sensors just in case...didnt help so i changed the cps which i bought at Napa auto parts store made by Echlin part #css1103...man what a job getting the old one out...installed that and still ran bad...next i change the oil,oil filter and the fuel filter...it seemed to run a little better after the fuel filter in the garage...also did the 6637 air filter so it could breath better...so while i had it still in the garage i went for the exhaust back pressure sensor which snapped off at the fitting...went down underneath to take it off the exhaust manifold and was froze up....i applied heat and unscrewed the fitting and twisted off the line...snapped....the top fitting is also froze...question..if i take off the bracket which is mounted to the [ injector pump or filter housing]...i see a gasket behind the bracket...is oil or fuel behind this bracket...also can i buy i new tube with fittings and a fitting to screw in the new exhaust back pressure sensor??
thanks for any help on this
george
Yes,you can buy a new tube at ford. With the fittings on it.It probably wont make sense to bend up your own if your fittings aren't usable.Think for sells them for $25 or so.
Oh and welcome to the forum. It will be very easy to learn alot in short order here.
i am learning from everyone here....alotta information...scrambling my brain with all these sensors...old school here...thats great i can buy the tube from ford...what do you think is behind the bracket....i have to take it off to remove the rest of the tube...it looks like a gasket behind the bracket
If I am not mistaken that cover in question holds oil inside the HPOP (High Pressure Oil Pump) reservoir.
Removing that cover will spill about a quart of oil if I am correct. Otherwise nothing will come out and it will simply expose the drive gear for the HPOP.

thank you for that...next question...what kind of oil do i put back in there...i see a refill nut and i read somewhere here the oil has to be 3/4 to 1 inch from the top...right?

Yes it should be about 3/4 to 1 inch from the top it is your engine oil. It is feed too it by the low pressure oil pump.
Edit: so if you drain it fill it with the type engine oil you use.

Dan is correct. Mine came off (bent) along with the tube. I had to get another from ford. There is no oil in there so speak of and just the drive gear of the HPOP. A little RTV and slapped the new one back on...no problems.
