I just got back from a trip and my truck (94 F-150XLT, 5.0 V-8) was steaming and smelling like coolant. Went to Firestone, they said Blown Head Gasket. Went to a shop that does such repairs and they said the same thing. There's coolant and oil splattered all over the underside of the hood and around the engine.
The mechanic said he doesn't think fixing the head gasket would make the engine ever be like it was. He said I should hire someone to put a new engine in it at around $3,800. I clearly don't know my *** from my elbow when it comes to this, so what's yalls experience.
First how many miles are on the motor in the truck? If its alot you might wonna think about getting a new motor. If it don't have alot of miles on it and it ran good before the leak I would take it to the place that said it had a blown head gasket and have them fix it.
