When my truck is on you can take the shifter and move it into gear without pulling the shifter towards you. Im not liking that for safety....Anyone know why this may be doing this?

Mine in the '85 does that every now and then, but not always. I have a feeling it's the linkages that are slightly out of adjustment (or possibly loose). I never thought too much about it before now... Since you mentioned it, I'm a little concerned with it too!

I just dont like the fact it can be knocked out of gear easily.
Wish I could get it where it wont shift unless you pull up like its suppose to be.

Well, now that I'm thinking about it more, I think I'll look into the matter tomorrow at work. It's too dark out now to get anything accomplished, but if nobody else chimes in with a good explanation on this before then, I'll try to have more information tomorrow evening.
