'88 f150 lariat,4x4 shortbed.
On an observation, I noticed this on my truck, and I think I remember seeing it on another ford pick-up with 4x4. It appears that the drive train, -specifically the front axel, seems to stick out of the passenger side wheel well more so than the drivers side.. i dont know, but looking down the side of the truck from the front, or looking down the side from the back, and comparing the left side of the truck from the right side, -it seems more noticable that the tire is outward from the wheel well on the passenger side, -I just replaced my rear axel housing, -and to see if the axel was in right, and not cocked, I took some wire, and tied it through the spokes on the rear rim, and tied it to a piece of 8ft aluminum round stock placed against the tire, so that it was running the length of the truck- I did this to see if the axel was some what in line, (a long piece of stock will show its ends pointing inward, or outward when looking down the side of the vehicle on a cocked axel,) -kind of a back yard alignment of sorts, anyway, I noticed the extended front wheel.....- Is it an illusion, or, factory? somthing worn out?- Its a dana front end if that makes any difference,............-Any one have an opinion on this??
I have no experience on the alignment of the axles but I doubt the front would be offset from the factory. Is it possible your frame is bent? I imagine that it would not take much to offset the axles. Just a thought. Good luck.

Nope, frames good, body bushing are good as well as radius arms also..

ya know i'm pretty sure I've noticed it on mine too, also my drivers side is the only side that rubs the tire on the leaf spring, but, i also do have some toe issues going on that will be fixed once its back on the road and all ball joints/tie rod ends are fixed.
I remember feeling the tires rub here and there on a tight turn, and went out to check for wear on the radius arms, and low and behold, just on the drivers side, not on the passenger side. I dont know, I guess I still gotta look around for other fords with this, I was just kinda concerned because of the rear housing swap that I just did, and trying to get everything somewhat lined up in place for a final alignment at the shop, -thanks.

you mean as far as wheel rim width? -yea, thats not really far fetched, I had a 15x7 mixed in with my three other 15x8's once and that did look kinda screwy, but that was changed out awhile ago, this looks more like the front passenger axel housing is somewhat extended outward more so than the drivers side.
I've had that happen with leaf springs, getting nail hard from the side...but I'm sure you have coils?? and IFS so it would probably be a lot less likely (I think)

But Its hasnt been hit, and I have the coils,and IFS, I"m trying to figure out how to measure it from underneath, I got the same measurements from the backing plate to the radius arm on both sides, and I'm a little leary about measuring off the pivot bushing bolts because they dont look centered on the cross member, both housings are different in length. so.. I'm at a dead end on figuring this one out-Mabey its just a Dana design characteristic? I dont kno?
