Well, some folks swear by it as the second coming of additives. I've had good luck with it using it both in the gas tank as directed, and sucking it into the intake via a vacuum line (as directed, brake boost line or PCV seem to be the favorite choices) to clean out whatever it is it cleans (injectors, chambers, rails). If you have deposits it smokes like a mother initially on restarts.
I just used it (vacuum line) on my 93 Taurus 3.8L, and it did clear up a rough idle and seemed to make acceleration smoother, with better upshifts...though how it did the latter escapes me. Didn't make a bit of difference on the 94 Town Car, didn't make hardly any smoke either. Maybe it's just a cleaner engine. Oh wait, the wifey uses nothing but Chevron in the TC, and I put cheapo gas in the Taurus.
Last two years I've been putting Seafoam in my garden equipment fuel (chainsaw, trimmer, lawnmower and tractor), and they all seem not to get gummed up in the winter...spring starts are easier.
so, pour some in the pcv valve hose, or where it goes into the valve cover? And then pour some directly into the tank? and I can add some into the oil just before an oil change, correct? about 1/3 of a can work for each place?
Warm the engine to operating temp. I've never used the pcv route before, I've always used either the brake boost line to suck it into the intakes, or another vacuum line from the intake manifold. You can always measure out the 1/3rd can into a cup and stick the small diameter vac line into it to suck it up. Have one hand or a helper for the throttle as it'll try to kill the idle.
Then pour the rest into the tank, it'll say on the can how many ozs per gallon. As far as in the oil, I've never done that till now, I've got 1/3rd can in my oil, waiting to hit 300 miles then change the oil and filter. Some guys run it 3000 miles between changes, but that makes me leery.
