I put a set of powerslot rotors and hawk pads(LTS pad) on my 03 last year. They work great, and have about 20xxx miles on them. Within the last 4-5xxx miles, they have started making a loud noise. It sounds just like bad brakes on a big truck. So I took the wheels off, and everything looks good. Rotors are smooth, and the pads have a ton of life left. So what is causing this noise? I think the rotors/pads may be glazed, but why? I have tried hard braking, but that did not help. I am starting to hate this rotor/pad combo. TIA!
Check your caliper slide pins, clean and lube them if it's been a while since you've done it. I was getting the squealing noise under light braking and found both upper front slide pins were gunked up with some rust and crud. I cut a slot in a wooden dowel and used a small strip of ScotchBrite scrubbing pad to clean the bores out. I chucked it up in the drill driver and they cleaned up quite nicely. I did all four wheels, no more noise and no problems so far.
I did put new slide pins in(ford parts) when I changed the pads/rotor. I will pull it apart in a day or two, clean them up and try it again. Is anti-seze(sp?) still recomended for the pins? I am think I put some on last time, but it had been a long winter with a lot of snow/salt. Thanks for the help!

I used (FORD) "Motorcraft Silicone Brake Caliper Grease and Dielectric Compound". Part # XG-3-A
I purchased at the same time as the brake caliper slide pins.
Antiseize will gum up the slide pins. The key to making this rotor/pad combo work properly is to "bed them in" IMMEDIATELY after installation according to the directions included with the brake pads.
I checked the slide pins and they were free, lubed up, and had zero rust. I did notice that my rotors are statring to wear groves in them. I guess I will get them to a brake lathe next week and see what happens.
