Question 1- could a guy swap late 99-03 plenums and intake spyder onto an early 99 engine?
Question 2- would it be worth the time and $ involved to do this?
(My job is boring this time of year so I sit around and think of ways to spend $ on my truck, dirt bike, or sled most of the time)
i have done just that with my truck from a stock 01 truck and added the wicked wheel (diff's of the two are in my exploded view link in my sig)..but only cause the turbo needed to be changed and the price was right at the time...i would do HPOP and the PCM first..you will get better SOP HP gains...the turbo didnt gain me much SOP..but the EGT's are 100 to 150 lower...
I already have a wicked wheel, I thought all the early 99's did... What PCM code should I be looking for, or should I just hunt for one from an 00 or newer to be sure I don't end up with another early 99 PCM?
Jody from DP tuner told me 99.5 00 truck..he told me the code to..but cant seem to find it..he has the PCM for 300 bucks..you will need to reflash your tunes if you have his chip...truck will run better and Jody can program the shifts a lot better with that PCM...
the early 99 turbo does have the wicked wheel..but i now have a stock 01 turbo..they dont have the WW in it...i put one in and its the only mod on this turbo....
<TABLE><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top width="100%">thanks Kris..I should have read deeper into the first post..you need to change the up pipes, babies butt, turbo pedestal turbo, spider, and plenums..you cant do any one of them without doing it all....id do the HPOP first....

My son recently replaced his PCM. Tony Wildman gave us the info that we needed one with DPC-422 on it and it would work fine. Apparently the Ford part no. isn't critical as this number was the one he said to get. The one we got came from a 2000 F250 auto and went into an early '99 F350 auto. Works fine. Cost $75 from a "recycling yard" in St. Paul, MN.
I was kind of hoping that a somewhat cheap/easy swap could be done, but if it's going to take basically every part of the induction system (turbo, pedistal, collector, up pipes, spider, plenums) then it's probably not very cost effective... bummer I would like to do an updated PCM though, I hear you get a little better running truck with an 00 PCM swap. 17* HPOP is on my wish list too, but I'll probably have to pass on the late 99 turbo setup.
i got lucky and got all the parts used for around 800 bucks with the turbo..so i went for it..if you want a better turbo..some early bird guy's use this turbo at the very bottom of the page and love it...
I don't really need a turbo upgrade, I just figured if the spyder and plenums would swap from a later truck to my early 99 it would, in theory, allow more air to be stuffed into the motor because of the larger intake runners.
