Hey everyone! This is my 1st post here in the ford truck forum. I am looking for some support right now as I am Turbocharging a v6 4.2 liter 2000 F150 XL! I am very interested in making a kit for not only the v6 F150, but also the V8 models, and for the Ranger! I need some feed back from each of you interested in performance gains! I hope that there will be a bunch of people interested that way it would motivate me to market a product in the future! It is all what the consumer wants! This F150 will be one heck of a sleeper I tell ya! We will be getting general information on the 4.2 liter engine, that way we can determine what kind of turbo to put on it and also how much boost we can feed the engine. I am hoping the engine has anywhere from 9-10 to 1 compression. However, the kit we are installing, has a compressor bypass valve ( blow off valve), External wastegate, T04B style turbocharger, Front mounted Intercooler, and a few other goodies! You guys with flowmastered mustangs better watch out, b/c you be smelling exhaust fumes from a stock looking V6 F150 XL!
The V10 stuff is not out of my hands! Give me a truck and It would be the very 1st Twin or single turbo v10 ford out there! Sick I tell ya! lol, about the firebreather, I actually have one. Its called a rotary engine!
Since you plan on marketing the product. How will your turbo compare to a blower costwise? On some models you can use a single turbo but some are going to need twin turbos and a good intercooler.
I like the way you think though. Turbos when matched to a engine are a very good thing.
It isn't a good thing, its the best of things! Why a blower? max boost at max RPM, turbo... max boost right above spool up! And you can turn the boost up when you want where you want. Not like a SC where you have to put a smaller pulley on to increase blower RPM. There isn't anything close to a turbocharged engine. The only thing better than a turbocharged engine, is a larger turbocharged engine!
