swapping 400 for 460
I have a 77 ford f-150 2wd pickup with a bad trans and 460 engine that is bad too. I have a perfectly good 400 eng c6 trans combo that i want to put in. its from a 78 LTD. Will the 400 accept the 460's motor mounts? I don't have enough money to fix the 460. Anything else I should Know? Thanks alot for reading this!

You should have no problem finding motor mounts and perches for a 400 at the local boneyard (they must be changed). Your existing c6 will bolt to a 400, so if it is OK, dont bother changing it. If you are close to S. MI, I will trade your 460 mounts and perches for 400 style. Let me know.

Thanks a lot for the info. I am from Kansas, and dont think i will be in the Michigan area any time soon. I could try the bone yards around here and if that doesnt work out, would it work via U.S. mail? I'd be happy to pick up postage and any finders fee you may have. Also, is the perch the part that connects to the frame? I just want to be sure what to look for.

Yes, the perch is the part that is attached to the frame, and the steel/rubber mount bolts to this. The junkyard should have some, plus get the Exhaust manifolds for the truck application. E-mail me off line if you have more questions or cant find any.
