Why in the heck would they hurry the 6.2 Boss on the market, and spend money on an engine that only 1% of the general truck buyers are going to buy?
The 6.2 is going to be a hard sell if fuel prices keep going up. Heck, truck sales numbers are falling as we speak.
As I've said a hundred times. They'd be in a much better position if they lightened the 150 1500 lbs, installed a fuel efficient engine, and advertised 25 MPG. Peeps would be lined up around the block trading in their 16-18MPG trucks.
I can't believe Ford management is sooo short sighted, and keeps getting dragged into this stupid HP, Mine is bigger/badder than yours war.
Just as short sighted as a lot of peeps that post here, I guess?
But it sure won't help them sell any more trucks, in these high priced times.
this is ford were talking about, they are always behind in horsepower in their trucks, but make up for it in other ways and still manage to be the best selling trucks

i dont think they release the breakdowns, it would be very intersting
i think gm/chevy sell more half tons then ford, chevy said before 2001 they only had 3% of the diesel market. so that leaves ford and dodge, im assuming dodge did better bc of the cummins but i can imagine ford having less then 80% of the diesel market share before 2001
what that means is that basically every heavy duty diesel truck was a ford 7 yrs ago so my thinking is that most of them prob did there job well and those people are going back to ford again for their heavy trucks
you guys seem to complain alot....you want this company to build high powered trucks with great gas milage...you want them to last for ever, have a 200 dollar a month payment and still stay in business....
remember the old saying "fast cheap and reliable, your only getting two"? now throw gas milage and keeping a company in business and your asking for a miracle.
test drive something and pick what you like because none of these trucks are going to be perfect until the american dollar is worth something again.
i drive a 92 f-150 w a 300I6 its not fast, but parts are cheap and the engine is reliable.i dont really belive any truck needs 400 hp.but when people pay 35k dollars for a truck would they rather get 381 hp or 315

If everything else was exactly the same, you would naturally want the 381 HP. However, everything else is not equal and other things are more important than horsepower. My 300 HP fits my needs exactly so anything more would be a waste.
It is not a matter of "need" it is a matter of "want". If the public wants a 400HP truck then thats what they want...You can talk about HP vs. MPG vs. cost until you are blue in the face....bottom line is, what sells trucks! If the automakers build what you "should" have they won't be around long...If Toyota builds them...where are the sales going to be?

In the 80's the public wanted 400 hp corvettes and mustangs.....but they didn't get them because of gas prices......same things going to happen again...mark my words..
