Hey this is my first post I;m sure I could have found the answer but I'm just gona ask I recently bought a 93 f150 302 5speed and I want to put 35's on it but don't have alot of money for a kit but I can but 6in pro comp coils and 4in blocks for like $200 vs $500 for a kit but I was wondering if anything would be messed up on my truck like with the steering or anything and if it would just be better to buy the kit thanks.
buy the kits. I will not flame you for the lift blocks, but im sure someone else, will. Lift blocks can shift, or even fall out, which is very dangerous, also lift blocks cause axle wrap and axle wrap is bad. 35" tires is quite a bit of rotating mass, what gears do you have have and what transmission do you have, the 302 is not well known for being a powerfull engine. Your truck should clear 35"s with a 3" lift. Im not posistive, but im pretty sure that you will have to trim the front bumper some. My truck clears 33" right now with no lift, all stock. There is minimal rubbing. I plan on running 35"s and trimming fenders.
200 bucks is cheap, but cheap usually equals bad, remember you get what you pay for!
ok so if I put coils in front and add a leafs out back I won't have any steering issues or what I'm not really concerned about blocks I won't be doing to much off roading it will mostly be a pavement pounder I have an f350 for offroading i was just concerned about any other issues I might run into. thanks
You should slow down and do a pile of research before you go off. First, most "options" on the kits should be mandatory. People either end up buying them later or sell the truck and say what a pile lifted trucks are. Second, there is so much more to bigger tires than a lift kit (and even steering) You will most likely need better geariing and brakes, too. All this makes the $200 lift kit spiral out of control.
Again, research for a while, and save up for all the stuff before you remove the first bolt. You will be much Happier in the end.
The truck has brand new brakes and 4.10 gears but it seems the general consensus is to just buy a kit but I can't beleive I'm the only one that has thought of doing this.
thought of doing what, lifting a a 93? i doubt it haha, but if you decide to go with a kit i would opt for new rear leaf packs or aal, blocks are not good above about 4" and still then theyre not great, can still cause nasty axle wrap
Ok all I want to know is if I put 4 inch lift coils up front and adda leafs out back will it cause any problems I decided 35's were to big for every day driving and i'm gonna get some 33 bfg at's
your truck should clear those tires stock with very little rubbing, my 95 does, also i suggest against getting those tires there horrible!!!! Im not joking, if the pavement has any kind of moisture on it, you can forget about traction!!!!
no definatley not I'm leaving for school in a few months and won't really get a chance. but anyway they might fit but i like a little fender gap but i'm guessing the springs won't mess anything and thanks for the heads up on the tires
Yes tires are horrible! GO BOGGERS!! lol! I know i will catch crap for this, but if your not going off road and its only for a look, than a body lift might be the way to go. There cheap and will give you the neccesary lift too, just make sure you toss the nuts and bolts that come with the kit and go grade 8. Just a little more protection!
thanks for all the help but no one has answered my actual question if I put the 4in springs up front and leafs in back just those not a whole kit will it mess anything up thanks oh and I don't want a body lift cause i want to use my brush guard
your brush guard should be bolted to the frame!
Im not real sure, as I dont know a whole lot on suspension lifts, but from what im thinking it should work.
