400 Mileage Woes
I'm a newbie here, but have been a die-hard Blue Oval guy for years. Here's my dilema...
I have a 78 F150 2wd with a 400/C6. I bought a reman carb for this truck about 6 months ago from Napa, as the original one was shot from sitting in a field for 6 years...(long story) The motor ran great in an LTD before I swapped it in the truck.
Well, I recently noticed the fuel consumption going way down and the choke is out of whack as it got colder here in IL. I adjusted the choke, and it didn't do anything. It also chugs and sputters until its fully warmed up. All vaccuum lines are in good shape, and the carb to intake and egr gaskets are new. Would bad EGR valve act like this?
What did I do wrong? I used to get 10-12 mpg before, and now I get around 6-8. Help!!!
Thanks,
Daryl
