Not a bad deal!
So it's been about a month or so since I bought my '01 Ex and I love it. We are planning on going on a trip this thursday, pulling our travel trailer and to make sure all was ready, I took the truck to the local Ford dealer and asked them to look it over, make sure all recalls are squared away and to let me know what it might need.
Well....my dear wife would not let me buy this thing if it didn't have some sort of a warranty. I know this can open a whole can of worms talking about third party warranties, but I have had good luck with them. So....when we bought the Ex, I bought a 3 year, 36k mile warranty for this 89k mile Ex. With all that said, the dealer called me and said that the recalls were all up to date but that it needed Right Upper and Lower Ball joints as well as replacement Drag links. and with all that, it will need the alignment.
Great news! The warranty company is covering it all so I will only pay my $100 deductable so I'm happy there!
I also bought a PATS key on Ebay for $14 and they cut and programmed that for about $60. Finally, for the life of me, I could not find the door code. The dealer had an apprentice hook it up and get me my code for $0. I also told them to go ahead and change the oil for $19.95. So, for all the stuff I am having done, I spent/am spending $193.95.
Now....I have to say this....I would highly reccomend Thiel Motors in Iowa, where I bought this Ex. Overall, it is a nice clean vehicle and so far....I feel I would go there again when I want to buy another car/truck. I would highly reccomend them for anyone looking for a vehicle and especially an Ex as they seem to have them there! here's their website: Theil Motors

That's great news that the warranty company is covering all of those items. I still wonder if I should have gone the route with my ESP that I went with. I recently purchased an '04 X with the diesel engine with 99,200 miles and had the choice of going with the Ford Diesel Care which only covers 13 specific motor items or a third party company that would have covered the same motor parts plus some transmission and drivetrain items. I went ahead and added the Ford coverage but still worry about the other items.
