I have a 1953 Deluxe Cab with the Boomerangs , and F100 with the dot on the side of my hood ,chrome on the doors and dash ,chrome on the drip rails. The glove box says it's a 53 on the I.D. plate. One of my friends said that it is a 1954 hood and the 53's did not come with these. Who is right about this? It really isn't that big of an issue with me, but he likes to be an expert on these things .I like the looks of them anyway and they are going to stay. I hope someone knows for sure.
I'm definately not an expert, but have noticed this discrepancy before in parts catelogs...
My 53 has the boomerangs and the dots, chrome etc.... No indication that anything on this truck was ever swapped out.
Your best bet would be to go by the identification numbers. Some states registered trucks diffferently than others. Most states register vehicles by the manufacturers date while other states register trucks by the actually date the truck was sold. So, basically if you bought a 1953 truck in 1954 its possiblle that it was registered as a 54.
Post the VIN numbers to both of the trucks, I'm sure that they can be deciphered and you can settle the arguement one way or the other
The 53/54 with Deluxe cab options came with the boomerangs around the F100 letters on the side of the hood. The standard optioned cabs just had the F100 letters on the side of the hoods. Also the grills on the Deluxe 53 had the chrome teeth in them, and I believe the Deluxe 54 had chrome bars on them. Again standard optioned 53/54 had plain grills with just v-8 or star (6cyl ) emblems.
