got ready to go on spring break adjusted steering box and checked a/c you know the pretrip list ran around a couple days Boom power steering leaking bad out of top of steering box from around adjusting screw. clean area found that i had not tightened jam nut down all the way maybe 1/2 turn loose checked setting had not moved tightened it! cleaned no leak GREAT take off on vacation 1 hour and half get into heavy traffic sit for awhile then get rolling pulling toybox loaded with trike and crap do alittle heavy pulling in some hills stop for potty break 3 women and 2 dogs! look under the x and the trans is leaking vent is clean no idea where it came from trans 1/2 QT.low i was watching tran temp gauge never over 190 have no idean what gives there! 3 more hours finally get to our campground power steering leaking again around jam nut ***** i thought it would work removed jam nut and put a flat oring under nut and snug it worked for day and half used alittle lucas power steering sealer on a what the hell--no good still leaking can't see where the trans is leaking now because of all the ps fliud the x wanders all over the road (why is was adjusting the box) have 160k on the x--14k on the transmission wife drove it low on fluid and wandered why brakes & steering felt funny and something was whining i guess it is time to replace the gear box regular parts stores do not show a seal to replace unless you buy a rebuild kit if you can find one Trip home some of thisnight before add 20-30mph crosswinds all over the road 3 women 2 dogs blowing powersteering fluid heavy traffic trying to keep it out of the wall and the other drivers passenger seat 60 miles from home a/c goes out front evaporator plugged rear cold as ice finally get the house park it open camper up jar of spaghetti sauce came out of cabinet some how exploded everywhere looked like someone was murdered AINT'T IT GLAD TO BE HOME! self-medication is a good thing

 

when i did not have any leaks the x still wandered all over the place and when you where at idle the steering was hard to turn i wondering if i should replace the pump also there is a tsb on this but i can't recall at this typing for mother fords fix was!
