03 F-250

I just bought a 03 F-250 supercab shortbed 4x4 v-10 auto trans. The truck has 135,000 miles on it and runs like a new one, it is a xlt and is super clean truck, had to put ball joints in it but that is it. Today I put new 285 BFG all terrains on it and it looks good and drives great. My question is I want to put 4.30 gears in it but I won't be able to for a couple months, is it ok to have 285 tires with 3.73 gears? I know a lot of guys who run 285's with 3.73 gears and never change gears and don't have problems at all. I am just wondering if anybody knows about this, thanks

I don't believe that you will hurt anything mechanical, just your fuel economy probably. I have had 285's for about 4 yrs now and no problems. I really haven't noticed any difference in mpg either, but I have the PSD motor.

You'll be fine with your gears, no worries.
