DNX7100 front panel button nighttime illumination

All,

Just installed a Kenwood DNX7100 unit in my 2007 F-350.

One thing I've noticed is that the front panel buttons do not light up at night unless the unit is on. Basically, I need to find the "on" button in the dark.

I would have expected the front panel buttons to be on with the dashboard illumination. Once the unit is turned on, they light up just fine.

I installed the DNX7100 using the Metra wire harness and did connect two orange dimmer lines together. I believe this is used to adjust the intensity of the screen, however, and does not affect the buttons.

Can anyone verify if their DNX7100 front panel buttons light up at night?
