I haven't found any studys on the 08's but I've met 2 guys that use B-100 in there 07's with 0 problems. Yes GMC only recomends B-5..........
My buddy runs B100 in his 07 Dmax and he said the only thing he had to do was replace the lift pump because of some sensor or something didnt like the bio. Other than that, it runs fine.
The B5 recommendation comes from EMA (Engine Manufacturers Association) and stems from the lack of ASTM standards for BioDiesel. It is not the truck makers that set the max percent at 5%, they were following industry guidelines.
The reason B5 was chosen is because if the BD meets the standard for use in blending at the 5% level the blended fuel still meets the standard for #2 diesel.
As ASTM gets closer to finishing the standards for higher percentage blends you should see those percentages rise, it is already happening in some industrial use engines.
