If u go w/ headers, BUY the locking header bolts, Dont use the bolts w/ the new headers, unless u like to "RE" tighting header bolts. Ford racing has a set for about 65$ . I promise they are WORTH it !! Ck the summit Web site...here is the part # FMS-M-9432-A50
Thanks for the info on the bolts, as one reason I never used headers was the problem with them coming loose and leaking.
I will definitely get them if I go with headers!!
I have installed a set of shorty "replacement" header on my 351w. The went on without a problem. It did not make the truck louder it just stopped the ticking noise from a exhaust manifold leak. When I installed mine I drove it for a few days then rechecked all the bolts. They were still tight.Every now and then I will check them. The other thing about headers is make sure you buy a set that has a 1 piece flange and is atleast 3/8" thick.Anything less and you will get warps and leaks fast.I bought Flow Tech headers for my truck.
Hey 86caprirs, I had a paif of BBK shorties that I tried to use, but the collector was too big for the factory Y-pipe. Do you still have the factory Y-pipe? Did your Flowtechs have any issue with this?
