exhaust stacks?
i just got a 99 f250 and i want to throw a pair of stacks on, i just dont know what size i should go with. i dont want ones that look small on the truck and i want them to be loud and mean. whats a 7" pipe do for me vs. a 4 or 5"?

I think it was the MBRP Rep who talked to me about these. Basically bigger is not better, but if you do have to have huge stacks they had a baffle that made it work and sound correctly. My rule of thumb is power determines the dia. If your going for the 1000hp stuff, you might as well get a 6 or 7" stack. If your only doing simple bolt-ons, a 3 or 4" pair should do nicely. However, I am not that crazy about big, loud exhaust so if you are ignore me.

I have a set of 5 1/2 inch stacks waiting to be put on. If you are wanting a loud exhaust then bigger is quieter. I think the loudest is just a stock muffler delete. Two six inch stacks wont be very loud. I have a buddy that has six inch stacks on a 7.3L and my factory exhaust with straight pipe is a lot louder than his, but his is way, way cooler. That is why I have a set of stacks just waiting for me to put them on.
