Anyone have any experience with "Pershing" tailgates? Pershing Auto Body Parts advertises a lot on EBay, but I wonder what quality their stuff is. They say they'll paint the tailgate your color and ship in 3-5 days for around $275 (painted and shipped, no hardware)
Sounds like a real good deal especially compared to the numbers the dealer is quoting.
Any thoughts?
Yeah, I guess you have a real point there, but I'm not sure how to tell over the internet. I'm hoping someone may have purchased something from this company and can tell me how good their stuff is.

Reason: typo
i would steer clear. my experience with onlinestores, such as those on ebay, is you get what you pay for. it is most likely thin metal. and there is no way that they will be able to match the color perfectly. i have seen the same paint code have 7 different variances. just my $.02
That's sort of how I'm starting to feel. The dealers and the bodyshops around here are all talking around $800 for a new (Ford) tailgate, painted and color matched. That's a lot of bucks, but I guess at least I'll know it's done right. Trying to keep my ride looking nice!
There a good company to buy from i've bought several parts from them. The pre painted parts do take a little longer to get but you get parts ready to bolt on and they show right up to door with out haveing to deal with your local body shop.
Did you buy big panels like the tailgate?
Do you think the paint matching they did for you was good? My main concern is the amount of fading that must have ocurred in 6 years of exposure to the Florida sun (mine's a red '02).
I'd say, just go to one of your local dealers and go steal one of their tailgates right off the truck on the lot.. Lots of people do it, its easy and free! haha
We bought 2 fenders and a bumper, yes big parts. The paint matched perfect on the fender for my truck but the fender for the car was a lot brighter then the rest of the car.But i think the car was faded and needed a good buffing and detail. You do pay in shipping but i think its worth it for me.They have a phone number and i did call and they where helpfull.I does take awhile for the painted parts.
Thanks. I guess a phone call can't hurt. If the paint is a little mismatched, it shouldn't stand out too much, since there's nothing else on the back with the original paint.
I appreciate the feedback.
Yeah! Online "deals" usually end up turning into regret and hindsight. The only way I buy online is from a trusted source, or by part numbers from manufacturers I know. I wouldnt buy body parts from ebay....Unless you're selling it! haha!
