I'm wanting to install a oil pressure guage and i was wondering where a good place to mount just one guage and also what guages should i look into buying. where should i take me reading from and how much psi should the guage read up too.
i was thinking about mounting it on the dash behind the turn signal has any one else seen this or think this is a good idea. thanks for you input
You can take your reading from a couple places. There is a port on the oil filter housing that would probably be easiest, but there's also a port at the rear of the block that will work. Two pictures for you with mounting locations, both show possible locations.
First one shows an oil line going to a bypass filter as the port on the oil filter housing. It's the one on the far left. The test port in the block is circled on the far right, although it's covered in grunge.
Second picture more clearly shows the location of the test port in the block, as I already have a pressure sending unit in the port.
As for what gauges, it's a lot of personal preference. I have Autometer's myself, but Isspro and Diprocol are both good too. Just be sure to get a good quality gauge.
Mounting location is personal preference too. You could do a mount around the steering wheel console, an A-pillar mount, overhead mount, cubby hole mount, or in the dash like you mentioned. It's your truck...where do you want it?
