are you the original owner also? because nobody had a 100k warranty until mid-year 07 (Dodge started it)

Weird. I'm thinking option #2. All I know is the dealer I ended up buying from e-mailed me while I was deciding what I wanted to do to let me know that Ford was doing 5/100 powertrain warranties but it expired at the end of the month(which I believe was Feb 06). Maybe they offered different things regionally? Who knows, maybe they paid for my warranty?
I'll try to find the article that was talking about Ford changing their warranties in July of 06.( Like you said, to compete with the other manufacturers)
Can't look right now, I'm planting trees today.
