Engine noise?
Hey guys, I have a noise coming from the engine I cant seem to figure out. I would describe it more as a loud "whirring" rather than a grinding. I have changed out the alternator, tensioner pulley and idler pulley. Water pump and power steering seem to move fine. Tried to localize it and it seems to come from the passenger side head/valve cover. It actually seems to sound the most noticeable right as you shut the engine off, as it comes to a stop. Any thoughts? Truck is 2000 F250 w/ 6.8L V-10, A/C. Gotta run to a hockey game but will check back on return. Thanks.

Wow. Just did some more searching and find an old thread from 2006. Same noise as mine. It was the freaking PCV valve. As soon as I disconnected it, the noise was gone. Amazingly, the valve transfers noise back into the valve cover and sounds like a bearing starting to go. Awesome! This forum rocks!!!
