Hello all!
after my engine warms up, about twenty minutes, it starts knockin really bad. I would love to tear into it and rebuild it but I'm not financially in that position yet. I was wondering if anybody and some wonderful and magical cure for this problem. I'm going to change the oil this weekend. Right now it has 10w-30 from the winter, I'm planning on running 10w-40 now, but I had thought about 20w-50 too. Any sugestions?
All your vast and wonderful knowledge is appreciated.
I doubt that there is any magic fix. 20w50 oil might keep the oilpressure higher and help some. One step up from this, you can change the oil pump and rod bearings with the engine in the truck for less than $100.00 in parts. The truth is, if you have a bearing knock the crank is probably toast by now and only a complete rebuild will really fix things.
