Model 1940 Holley rebild kit
My gal's '66 F100 daily driver started puking gas. Took it apart and saw (among other things) how worn the accel pump cup was, so I got a "complete" rebuild kit for the Mod 1940 Holley from NAPA.
Figured it was the gas inlet needle valve sticking/worn out, but figured what th' heck... might as well do the whole thing, right? The kit had more stuff than I needed: tons o' different gaskets, choke diaphragm, etc. But guess what? -- for those of you who know how this story ends, please don't smirk too much -- There was no accel pump cup in this grab bag of goodies.
The single-most mobile piece of rubber in the entire carb was not included in this "complete" kit. Best part is, I can only find 2 (two) of these cups in the entire US (so far, anyway).
Okay, now that we're all teared up about my sad, little story...
Anyone know if there is a cross ref for this little neoprene gem? And/Or who actually makes a real, "complete" rebld kit with The Cup?
Numberdummy...?
Mod 1940 Holley carb
NAPA ref/part# for The Cup: 2-4296
Like I said, this is her daily driver so bein' down is not a good thing.
Thanks in Advance,
Dan'l
I need to know before I do any searching for the parts.
240 or 300 I-6's used both 1V Holleys & Auto-Lites / V8's used 2V Auto-Lites (Ford).
Otherwise....
Here is one place that might be able to help you:
North Hollywood Carburetor & Ignition, located in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles County.
If it's obsolete, old, or no one else has it...they usually do.
They used to do all of Harrah's Auto Collection carb restorations.

Here is another possibility:
Engler Brothers Auto Parts located in Santa Monica, CA.
The best dang auto parts store in the SoCal area for old car/truck parts.

It is a single bbl/1 venturi. Very basic, man'l choke, etc. Just wondering if the pump cup was so specific that it was made only for these model 1940 carbs, or if there is something with which it can be replaced.
I found that the original owner replaced the 240 cid with a 300 cid (he came up to me in the parts store, while I was hunting brake fittings... love a small town!). The truck was running fine (power, start, idle, etc) prior to the carb problem(s), which started to become evident about 1 week ago: smell of gas, very slight stammer on accel pump activation upon initial accelleration. Then, just puked and died at the hardware store.
Thanks again

Swapped engine.
Grrrrr...I hate swaps!I wonder if the carb is off the 300 engine, was on the original 240 engine, or is something the owner just stuck on there.
Here's what I can tell you...Ford used the same Holley carb kit from 1965/72 on both the 240 & 300. But, the Ford parts catalog doesn't list the Holley carb model number, so there's no guarantee the following is correct.
D0PZ-9A586-B .. Carburetor Kit (Motorcraft CT-223-A)
The kit comes WITH the accelerator pump "cup."
Here's the part number for just that:
D0PZ-9572-A .. Accelerator Pump Piston "Cup" (Motorcraft CM-1174)
> > > FTE sponsor GREEN SALES has 10 of these cups (I just checked their online parts locator)
Call them on Monday and have them give you the dimensions: 800-543-4959 < < <
Knowing the previous owner painted only half the truck (the bed to partway up the cab) after he placed a diff't-colored truck bed on it, I think it is probably the same carb off the original 240 cid -- still has the 240 cid air cleaner, too. That's why I first thought it was a 240 cid.
I will definitely start to make the contacts you have forwarded, and Green Parts will become a friend of mine, I'm sure.
Thanks!
Dan'l
