Well my truck just fell dead last night. So it made it home on the hook. Now I charged the batteries and when turning over there's no smoke....... so I'm guessing hopefully lift pump went out ...........what do you guys think?
Take the filter header Schrader valve core out and hook a hose and pressure guage to the outlet.........crank engine see what you get for pressure, should have 4-6 psi from a good lift pump.
Volume test same place hook a hose to it crank over the engine 10 seconds you should get 1/3 pint of fuel minimum.
****Important the fuel shutoff solenoid (FSS) wire on the IP should be disconnected if you do not want a start just cranking. Re connect FSS after test complete.
Check the fuel shutoff solenoid at the injector pump. With ign. "on" unplug and replug shutoff wire, you should be able to hear and feel the solenoid working. Probably a stupid suggestion but your filter is OK?
Do the volume test suggested by PLC7.3. Maybe you have fuel at filter but not enough. When you crack open an injector do you get any fuel at all at the injector pipe? If your lift pump is OK it is possible your injector pump has failed. But you need to know what the lift pump is doing first.
I always unscrew the fuel line in front of the filter, between liftpump and filter, and spin motor over, should shoot fuel atleast 4 or 5 inches, if good, try same on other side of filter.
