As a general rule, I don't condone that kind of filter, though it does look like they made some effort to do it right. I would still recommend building some kind of sheild around the filter to keep it from drawing in warm or hot air from under the hood. That looks like a K&N filter, I recommend the new AFE ProDry, easier to clean, passes less dirt, better filtering efficiency, and you clean it with just water, and does not use an oiled element. I run on on my Mazda in place of the K&N I had before and am extremely pleased. I used to have to clean the filter and MAF element about every 3,000 miles just to maintain performance and fuel economy. Since I installed the AFE, the fuel economy increased, and remains good across several oil changes (thats actually an understatement, I only have to clean it every 30,000 miles or so)

I also costs less than the K&N filter did, and it costs a lot less than a new MAF sensor or the wasted fuel.

I found some really clean carpet in the same color as mine but I couldn't get the two bolts out that hold the front seat/belt down. It's a torxs head and for the life of me I could not get them to budge. I really want that carpet so if anyone knows some tricks to get out those bolts I'd appreciate it.
your best bet that i found would be either to cut the carpet around that bolt, bring a generator and a makita grinder, or some how get an air chizle in there. they hella don't like to come undone. i helped part out an aerostar over on the west side (that now that i think of it really just needed a new bumper, hood, grill, drivers side fender and core support and it would've been back on the road) and i wanted the seats. well one bolt came undone easy peasy cuz the owners had to replace a seatbelt clip. but the other one had to be destroyed... we used an impact gun to try to get it off, an impact chizle, and a drill... well the bit broke. but it eventualy gave way to the chizle

Hey DCRB... brilliant! I could just make two discrete cuts with a pair of scissors up to those bolts and then stitch them back up when putting it in my van.

Bear River.. I'll look into other filters. I'm not fond of using an oiled filter either. Heat soak could be an issuen in slow traffic, not sure yet. On the highway I imagine it would breath a lot better than the stock box considering the holes in the grille (haven't seen the stock box though).

Question for you Bear River, I came across a post you made where you mentioned bedrug as a replacement for carpet. Any details on that? I went to their site and it looks like a fitted product (vehicle specific) ?
