The 460 is going to give you more power with a lot less add ons. From what I have heard from other guys on the board both of these engines weigh about the same. The 400 will probably take a little bit more to get as much pep out of it than a 460 and I could not mileage being any different between these two engines. But this depends on how either is built. My 2 cents

I'm just not happy the way my 400 is running right now and its almost time for a rebuild, and I can probably get a 460 for pretty much free but it needs to be rebuilt to.
I didn't say he had to run headers but otherwise he'll have to scrounge around and find some stock manifolds that will fit the truck. Either way it's just more money he'll have to add to the cost of the swap.
it depends on what year 460. the newer ones, have about the same power as a 400, but the older ones, pre 72, are the ones you want. otherwise just rebuild the 400.
