It would be a metal tag on a screw holding the top on(stock Autolite).

This was discussed in another thread, as you could probably get a kit for something else and use it. There are only a couple replacement parts in an Autolite(top gasket and accel pump diaphram). Shouldn't be too hard to make it work.

thanks, the only thing wrong with the carb is the manual choke is squirting gas. That is as far as i'm going to go until i decide on a 2 or 4 barrel.

The tag is triangular shaped and was on the air horn originally.

But when carbs were overhauled, most ppl never put the tag back on.

So...don't be a bit surprised if it's missing.

292/302/352/360/390, the same 2 barrel carb kit was used from 1963 thru 1974.

D4AZ-9A586-A .. Carburetor Kit (Motorcraft CT-499-A)

All the gaskets, the accelerator pump diaphragm and acc. pump check valve, etc are included with this kit.

When removing the four screws from the front cover where the accelerator pump is...be CAREFUL...remove it slowly...there's a COIL SPRING behind that cover.
Yank that cover off....BOING!!

(walks around-lookin' on the ground) "Now where did that dang coil spring go?"

You may be standing on it. Don't ask!

You'll have to change the intake manifold, too.

Some ppl here recommend Edelbrock carbs, some ppl recommend Holley's.

There is a specific Carb Forum on FTE...you might ask your questions there.

i'm not sure it's the choke. It's the part in front of the carb and when i pull the choke ****, it uses a rubber gromment to seal the a hole in the top of carb

That's the fuel bowl vent hole. Does the truck run at all? Sounds like the float has sunk, thus allowing fuel to overfill bowl and then coming out vent hole.

Just a note, carb kits DON'T come with new floats. That's extra. Sounds like you need one.

the truck runs really well, considering it's been sitting. it idles high, but that's it. the fuel is not coming out the top. the rubber that covers the vent hole is on an arm that moves when i use the choke lever. That arm conect to the front side of the carb on a little box about 1 inch by 1 inch and a 1/2 inch deep. where that box meets the carb body, gas is squirting out of the seal. When i tap the gas pedal, the truck idles down, then idles back up. tap the gas, and it idles right back down. when that rubber groment moves, that is when it idels back down.

That arm and item on front is the accelerator pump. If the pump does not operate properly, it will cause a stumble when you push the throttle. Since it's leaking gas, there is a problem. The rebuild kit will include parts for that.

You can also buy the accelerator pump diaphragm and check valve as separate parts.

C4AZ-9B559-A .. Accelerator Pump Diaphragm (Motorcraft CM-463)

C4AZ-9576-A .. Check Valve (Motorcraft CM-825)

Just in case...

C1AZ-9550-A .. Float (Motorcraft CM-615) ~ (1965/69 F100/350 352/360/390)

so, could a weak spring be causing the high idle?

Possibly, either that or the wrong spring. Do you have a manual choke?

That is...do you have a choke cable on the dash? If not, the idle problem may lie elsewhere.

yes it is a manual choke, that's how i know it's the problem. if i move that arm, it then idles correctly, unless you know something i don't
