loooong starts
Hi Im new to the ford forum and I just purchased a 2003 expedition with 99000 miles on it and for the last couple of days I have been getting long starts not all the time but in the morning and after sitting for 20 to 30 minutes, should I try the plugs or is it something else because it kind of annoying.

there could be many things that are cuasing this first ? that i have to ask it there oil in you water or water in your oil also have the starter tested if it is the frist then its a head gasket also what dose the oil presure look like cause if it is low then the oil pump is about to go out that is all that i can think of

I pulled off the iac vavle and cleaned it and it started fine for about an hour but started hard starts again maybe it needs to be replaced, or could it be spark plugs my oil and water looks good and also it does not do this all the time just cold starts and when it does starts theres about 4 seconds of engine shakes then it runs excellent.

For the next few cold starts, turn the key from off to on, wait about 3 seconds for the fuel pump to run, then turn the key off. Repeat a couple of times, and then try to start it.
(Or connect a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel rail and monitor the fuel pump pressure while it sits for a few hours and see if the fuel pressure drops drastically.)
