Dual tanks

i have a dumb question. i'm not sure my gas gauge is working. which tank is the main, and which is the auxiliary? Thanks

also, i have to tank selectors. one is on the dash, and on is on the floor. the one on the floor has fuel lines running to it.

I know the valve on the floor(between seat and door) is to switch between tanks. I would suppose the switch on dash changes fuel gauge readings?

I would guess the tank behind the seat is MAIN? If you want to check gauge readings, reach behind seat, unhook the sending unit wire and touch it to ground. This will make it read FULL, change position on dash switch and see which one reads FULL? this will clarify that part.
