cleaning question?!

cleaning question?!
I have a 2001 F-150 offroad 4x4 with 75,000 miles. i recently took my cold air intake off and my throttle body to get its regular cleaning. I looked down into the "throat" as i call it and saw that there was ALOT of carb built up back down in there. I dont want to try to clean it and knock deposits down, is it ok it take that all apart and give it a good cleaning??? if so what can use to do it?? i know that my IAC connects in there also and my idle can kinda rough sometimes thought maybe this would help, along with better airflow. Any feedback is appreciated, thanks alot
