1954 dizzy

I recently bought a 54 239 that had dizzy and oil pump changed to a 57 dizzy and pump. My question is about the vaccum advance the 239 dizzy had the advance that screwed in to the base of carb. and to the advance on dizzy. I can still put metal line in carb. base but new dist. just has fitting for rubber hose. Can I cut the end of line that screwed in and put rubber hose on or will advance still work this way

The rubber hose should work fine. I would keep it as short as possible, so it doesn't want to collapse easily.

just cut the metal line off and slide a piece of vacuum hose over it then run to distributor
