I was given one; couldn't get pass the "password"; gave it to someone who use to work for SGI.
It's still in his garage.
ooh, used to support those, sgi indy was da bomb in about 1997. i dont think an indy will run anything but irix (tm), though. if it still boots hang onto it, in another five years it will be worth quite a bit as a running antique.
I'm a certified PC Technicain with more than 25 years of experience. If it wasn't for the $1500 price tag for a base model. I would be a MAC Owner hands down. Run Bootcamp on OSX and an Intel Mac and you have a stable Windows enviorment. Not only will it NEVER crash, but it'll be 100% faster. IF you get a PC Virus in Bootcamp. Bigdeal what damage can it do outside Bootcamp.. You'll find that you'll use the MAC more than the PC as time goes by.
Yes. It will run, at 667 it's not going to blow your hair back but it will work reliably. 1.5G RAM is plenty given the processor speed. you need to look out for your disk speed (RPM) and your graphics card.

ps 667 is circa 1999-2001 depending on model.
Here's my problem.
I only see OS software on DVDs. I have a basic CD drive, not a DVD drive.
Any "easy" solutions on how I may install an OS?
By the way, it's a "Digital Audio" model, I think.
You would buy a MAC because you can run multiple OS's. IF you have 1 or 2 programs that only run on Windows then you can use them on a Mac. The rest of the time I do everything in OSX, Excel spreadsheets, word docs, publisher docs, I do all that on the Mac OSX. Screw Windows, I have had a Mac since 1993 and I can truthfully say I have NEVER no not one single time had to re-boot my freaking machine! My Windows computer at work sucks, of course the answer to everything in Windows is either alt-ctrl-delete or restart the thing! I have beetter things to do with my time, than screw around with a locked up computer or any other PC issues! My Mac freaking works great every time I use it!!!
I'm glad that you don't have to reboot your Mac...ever.
For the record, my computer is only shut down when needed such as installing a program that requires it or when I know a thunderstorm is coming.
Windows XP Home is what I'm running and it has no doubt been the most stable Windows OS that I have ever used. I can't remember when the last time the system has "froze" up.
My system works for what I need it to do.......play around on and browse this forum...as well as others!
Mac, hands down, no question. The only reason to buy a PC over a Mac is financial.
If you can afford to set it up right, the Mac *is* a PC when you need it to be. No emulation, no reboot - with sw like Parallels you can instantly switch from running OS X to XP or Vista. Or linux, for that matter. Yes, you need to buy and install XP (or whatever), but that's kind of the point - you're really running it native on the hw - at that point you're running a PC (which means that you can certainly get all the viruses that any PC can get, btw, but that won't affect the running of the Mac OS.)
I'm writing this on a Mac G3 400Mhz Powerbook that I bought in 2000? It had the old Mac OS8 on it, and it's now running OS X 10.3 just fine.
I'm finally replacing desktop machine at home, it's a Mac 7600 that was purchased in about 1997, I think. I got a whole box of decent PC parts including lots of memory and some high end graphics cards. I could build a nice PC for the price of a copy of XP, but instead there's a new Mac sitting in the box in my living room waiting for me to have enough time to move stuff from my old one.
I use both everyday at work, but when I go home I really don't want to have to deal with PC... There it's Mac only, for me....

I have the same experience with XP Pro on 4 current computers. I won't switch to Vista or Vista's replacement until I have to. Mac owners, well I guess some body has to buy a Lexus - they do look good.
