I picked mine up from Orezona(Jason), he decided the trouble of relocating the tranny cooler that he had just installed was not worth it. I had no problems bieng mine is a 99.5. 1 man job 2-3 hrs tops.

Now for the good news, if any of you have the ALUM end tank intercoolers (99-00), the OBS guys go nuts for these. I sold my old cooler for exactly what I paid Jason for the new one, so basically I got a free mod.

Thanks for explaining the 6.0 intercooler....
Now can someone tell me how to install the 6.0 tranny cooler ?
I've got big hands and really tore them up trying to reach the mounting bolts...Someone suggested removing the bumper but that means my Ranch Hand grill gurard as well...
Surely there must be an easier way....And I'm open to any and all suggestions...
Thanks...

you can check ebay every now and then they have em cheap. A while back I posted a link to ebay that had $50 6.0 IC that banks was clearing out. So keep your eyes and ears open. By the way I did notice an improvement with IC swap (only while towing though) and with the other supporting mods I dont worry about egt's while towing anymore!!!!!!! ( always in the safe zone)

I ended up discharging my condenser and pulling it out, then you can get to everything really easy.

I ordered a 6.0 trans cooler today, 300 bucks was the cheapest I could get one.

Heres a picture of the problem with the tranny lines being in the way. The one you can simplly push out of the way, I dont see anyway you can bend the other one without cracking the cooler.

By the way I do have another 6.0 intercooler with a slightly broken mounting tab that I would repair. First one to Wyoming gets it cheap

I found a local scrapyard that will sell me a 6.0 intercooler for $175. Is that a pretty fair price?

Thats more trouble than it's worth for the little EGT reduction. I wouldnt even put one in if it was laying in my shop. i'd use it on my 95 though.

I've noticed that just pulling up a mountain empty with my Edge on my EGTs go up more than I'd like. Its getting to be fishing season for me(and my boat will be in tow alot) and I'm looking for something fairly cheap to help out! I dont have a exhaust yet so that could the majority of my problem! I do also tow a gooseneck with about 8k on it every now and then.

Arent people claiming about a 100 degree drop when towing? My truck gets hot when towing so 100 degrees is worth it for me. Plus I can tell other 7.3 guys I have a bigger intercooler than they do....

But so far just driving around I havnt really noticed a difference, except maybe that it cools down a bit faster before I go to turn it off.

I'm guessing the guy who wrote that 6.0 IC install thread must not have have any issues with the trans lines, or I'm sure he would have put that bit in there. That guy's usually pretty thorough.

Actually, thanks for the info. The original post cannot be edited, but an update was put at the end of the writeup. Now just to hope that those who read it will read the whole thread.

If I could get a cheap one close by I would do the swap. Saves on buying a $1,200 one.

well I got my 6.0 trans cooler installed, wow its way bigger than the stock 7.3 cooler, its gotta help a bunch with the trans temp. It bolted right in to the factory mounts, I just had to get a couple fittings and some extra hose. Very simple though.
