Man, Today I Went To The Scrapyard To Look Around And I Was Absolutley Amazed On How Many I-6's Were There. There Was One That Looked Complete And Had A Battery And Keys In It And I Tried To Fire It Up And It Suprisingly Did And Ran Freaken Awesome! I Need To Scrape Up Money And Buy A Few. Least I Know I Can Get A Replacement For My Truck If I Need It.
Well I would say you are lucky.
I have been hitting the wrecker's around where I live.300's seem to be rare.
Unless guy's are beating me to them.
I found 1 out of 7 wrecker's.And it was in rough shape.

What are those going for, where your at?
I had the same problem you are having, but I did finally find one for a reasonable price of $500.00. I found a couple others at wreckers but they were asking as much as $850 and one of them wanted a core return. Good luck in your search.

Hopefully I will find a private sale.
One wrecker was expecting to rescue a Bronco with a 300 in it,he said after he does a compression test and all that, the motor would be about $500.
I thought that was reasonable.Plus knowing the motor was still strong.
But he never did get the Bronco,so I never got the 300.
I'll keep looking though.
I pick up 300 FI engines all the time. anybody in MN ever in need of one let me know. i have 2 of them sitting in the box of my truck right now.
I think I saw your truck posted in the 73-79 forum.Whit one ton/flat deck!
You had a 300 in the back.
Too bad you're in the states.Otherwise I would give you a call.
$500 for a 300I6? That's robbery, I don't know a lot about anywhere outside of SE Iowa, but down here these motors are cheap and plentiful, probably all the old farmers had a lot of em....heck I got a damn good one in my shed awaiting a truck...

Yep, that ones mine. i actually have 2 of them in back now. one of them has a c6 tranny still hooked up to it.
Anything more than 250 for a complete running 300 in my eyes is a rip off. I could pull a running 300 with good compression ect for 150 at the local junk yard in Iowa. I couldn't even sell one of my 300's with just over 100k for 100 bucks. Went to the scrapyard.
was that carb'd or EFI? mine was pulled from a running 1993 E-150 with 90,000 miles on it and came with everything except the alt/smog pump and brackets and power steering/AC bracket and parts.
If you are pulling an engine at a U-pull yard, the best thing to do, even if you want a carb'd engine, is to pull an EFI engine. The more efficient control of fuel with EFI usually causes cylinder wear to be greatly reduced. That's true for any EFI engine. Small block Chevys and Fords, for example, will almost always show less cylinder wall wear on the EFI engines. You'll also get the coveted EFI exhaust manifolds. You can always bolt on an older head with a carb'd intake.
