The Hellwig Rear Stabilizer is installed! I am impressed with the handling characteristics from before without out the bar....and that was without pulling anything yet! Next week, we will be pulling the new 33' Rockwood TT and I can't wait for that 'maiden voyage'!
If you guys didn't see much change unloaded, I'm not sure it'll do that much when towing.
When we put ours on our `05, even my wife (who is not inclined to notice stuff like this) immediately noticed an improvement in the steering wander. I didn't do the steering box until after, just so that I could separate the effects.
Towing before the Helwig and box adjustement was NOT fun. We were all over the road.
We tow a 29' 7klb camper and have somewhere around a 1klb tongue, but I'm just guesssing based on the dry weight. We use a Reese Dual Cam hitch.
Switching to Michelin LTX M/S tires (and getting an aligment) ruined our handling - put us back at square one before the box and Helwig, and I haven't gotten it sorted out yet.

Do you know what they did during the alinement, "Actual Numbers"? And what type of shop did the alinement?
Glad to hear you like the hellwig. I am very happy with mine and would not go back to going without one. Hard to believe Ford would make the truck without one.
Got it done by NTB. Never had a problem with my trucks in the past with them, but ...
I'll see if I can dig the numbers out.
Sorry to hear of the steering problem but I doubt if it has to do with the tires. If the truck handled better before the alinement I would look at that. Try and find a true alinement shop, preferably one that work on larger trucks and has spicificaly worked on Excursions. Most experienced shops will comment on the factory caster specs being wrong fot our trucks.
Are there any instances where Ford installed stock sways both front and rear. I got under my Ex today and was really looking around and notices that I had a 1.5" sway in the back and, what looks like, a 2" sway in the front. I might have just gotten lucky and the previous owner might have already beat me to the punch. I haven't noticed much wander either. By the way, I recommend MBRP's 4" Turbo back to anyone that doesn't have it already. The tip looks great and since I live somewhere where they don't salt roads (Fresno, CA) ever I got the aluminized. Can't beat $360 shipped and only another $150 to install. $510 out the door and Banks wanted $900+ just for their 4" exhaust. Someone needs to tell these guys that a mandrel bend is a mandrel bend is a mandrel bend no matter whose name is on it!!!!!

Your measurements are a bit fat even for an aftermarket set of bars. The stock Ford rear bar is 1 in. and mounts with a seperate set of U bolts to the rear axle. The Hellwig mounts with a 3 holed plate on the shock hanger U bolts, a much wider mounting point. The Ford front bar measures 1 3/8 in
