I know this is not about a corrupt politician, war, or crime...this however is some really cool good news.
Lance did it again. Second year in a row he has taken the Yukon Quest and the Iditerod. This year him and his dogs mushed for a total of 9 days, 11 hours, 46 minuted and 48 seconds. He finished with 11 out of 16 dogs having to drop 5 dogs including his leader along the route.
Lance is a local hero around here. He has battled and won cancer, built his kennel with little if any money. Has been the underdog for so many years. It is good to see the Mackey legacy continue. HIs father and brother are also Iditerod winners, but Lance has accomplished 2 things nobody else ever has. Back to back wins within weeks of each other of the two most gruelling and challanging sled dogs races in the world.
Most of these mushers are great guys...Martin Buser and Jeff King are members of what I concider the "gentleman mushers club", where Lance Mackey and the like are more more like one of the guys.
Who would get the steroid tests the musher or the dogs?
Coming in last but finishing is Rookie Deborah Bicknell finishing with 8 dogs in 15 Days, 5 Hours, 36 minutes and 12 seconds. Congratulations Deborah!!!
