I have a 95 EddieBauer the drivers side window will not work one day and it will on another. I changed the switch/button and the same thing (works on occasion). The button for the passenger window will work. Any suggestions as to the cause before I really break something trying to find the problem. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks.
I would start by checking if you have power to the window motor when it quits working. If the motor is getting power and not working then thats likely the problem. If it's not getting any power then it may be the plug or wiring.
I had a similar problem with my rear window. It would open and close with the key just fine, but the switch only worked sometimes. Turned out being a loose ground.
We had an F-250 that did that. If you beat on it with a hammer you could get it to work. I remember the light taps we had to give it to get it to work. Turns out the motor was cooked. Sometimes you had to use the hammer other times not.
Try smacking the door like the poster about loose connection said. Test with a
multimeter to see if it is the motor or switch. A common cause for failing locks
and window motors is a bad lower window seal allowing water to sheet right down
into the door and getting on the electronic parts and causing them to not work
when wet and if the drain holes are not clear RUST at the bottom seam.
