Droning sound in cab

Check your intercooler pipe. Make sure it's not rubbing on anything. I had a terrible drone on mine and turned out to be the IC Pipe rubbing against the A/C-Heater area. I know you worked on the passenger side, but if you moved yours at all but it might be touching somewhere.

Next chance I get I'll go over a few things to see where the problem might be.
One thing to look for: is the drone only there when there is no boost?
And conversely is the drone gone when you are pulling hard with at least 15 psi?
It's surprising how much sound can get out past the turbo if it's not spinning.
If yes to the above, then the drone is coming out your intake.

I must be one of the lucky ones around hear. The only time I hear what I would call droning is when I am towing my 28ft travel trailer at 65+ and even then it is not unbearable. I did do the B-Quite sound deading. Double layer on cab floor, double on rear wall, single on doors. It did do a good job with making the cab quiter. Not near as much road noise. Tires quiter, even less exhaust sounds. The drone that I do have is still there and no noticable differance after the B-Quite. I guess the drone is somehow getting by the sound deadening.
I went out tonight and messed around with things for a few minutes. After much expert analysis while drinking cheap beer I've come to the following conclusion:
Not only is my filter resting under the lip on my fender, but the intake tube also just barely touches the IC pipe. I think the ABS spacer I used to adapt the two intake pipes together after the CCV mod is just a hair too long- 1/4" or less shorter and I think I'll get the clearances I need. I'm hoping to do my exhaust install this weekend and I should have some extra tubing left over. If I do, I'll cut a couple of short pieces to replace the ABS couplers that are in there now and see if it helps. If not, I'm going to call Dale at Tymar and order one of his intake tubes and clamps.

Just a thought, not sure where all you worked on the truck, but I can say this,"stay the heck away from getting even close to the pwer steering lines!" I replaced a ps line once, and on restart it sounded like a small aircraft engine was under the dash running WFO. I tweaked the pressure lines apart/away( i'm talking 16th of inches ), after that, quiet as a mouse. My old 97 superduty has the hydro assist for the brakes coming off the steering pump, vs. a vac. booster. Just a thought, Jay
I don't think I got close to any power steering lines, but it's possible that I did when I was routing my CCV hose around- I'll have to check into that. Thanks for the info Jay!
Update- I posted a link to this thread in the OBS PSD forum and got a suggestion there that the droning sound I've been experiencing may be due to EBPV malfunction (which could also explain the sluggishness I've had at low throttle). So, before I drove home I unplugged the AIH sensor to disable the EBPV- it's not a complete fix, but it definitely helped out. My truck seemed more responsive off the bottom as well. I think a good cleaning of the EBPV is in order, at which point I'll probably leave it unplugged and wire it to a switch eventually (I have switches in the cab already that are wired up but don't seem to do anything).
