brakes
i recently had the front drums turned on my truck. the guy said a groove i had in my drums might be too deep to turn. when i picked them up, i was happy to hear that he had been able to get the drums smooth. i used new bendix shoes and all new springs and hardware. my problem is now it seem like i need to press the brake pedal a lot harder than i used to. i'm thinking the drums might have been turned too much. i've readjusted all the brakes and bled the whole system but it didn't help. i don't have power brakes.

maybe you need to adjust them? pull off the rubber boot, stick a screwdriver in there and give each side a few clicks or jack up the whole front and spin each wheel while you do it to get a feel for them being adjusted evenly

The material used for the pads themselves can make a difference. You adjust each wheel so the amount taken out of the drum shouldn't matter.
Start at the right rear, left rear, right front and finally left front.
